ACCEPTANCE

We accept everyone for who they are. You can be whomever you dream, at Milkshake we don’t judge.

ASEXUAL

A sexual orientation generally characterized by not feeling sexual attraction or a desire for partnered sexuality. Asexuality is distinct from celibacy, which is the deliberate abstention from sexual activity. Some asexual people do have sex. There are many diverse ways of being asexual.

BEAR COMMUNITY

A part of the queer community composed of queer men similar in looks and interests, most of them big, hairy, friendly and affectionate.  The community aims to provide spaces where one feels wanted, desired, and liked.  It nourishes and values an individual’s process of making friends, of learning self-care and self-love through the unity and support of the community.  Bears, Cubs, Otters, Wolves, Chasers, Admirers and other wildlife comprise what has come to be known as the Brotherhood of Bears and/or the Bear community.

BIGENDER

Having two genders, exhibiting cultural characteristics of masculine and feminine roles.

CHERISH

Cherish the time you have with each other.

CISGENDER

A gender identity, or performance in a gender role, that society deems to match the person’s assigned sex at birth.  The prefix cis- means “on this side of” or “not across.” A term used to call attention to the privilege of people who are not transgender.

COMING OUT

“Coming out” describes voluntarily making public one’s sexual orientation and/or gender identity. It has also been broadened to include other pieces of potentially stigmatized personal information.

COURTESY

An act of civility or respect; an act of kindness or a favor performed with politeness.

CROSS DRESSER

A word to describe a person who dresses, at least partially, as a member of a gender other than their assigned sex; carries no implications of sexual orientation. Has replaced “Transvestite”

DRAG KING

A person (often a woman) who appears as a man. Generally in reference to an act or performance.  This has no implications regarding gender identity.

A person (often a man) who appears as a woman. Generally in reference to an act or performance. This has no implications regarding gender identity.

GAY

A sexual and affectional orientation toward people of the same gender; can be used as an umbrella term for men and women.

A sense of one’s self as trans*, genderqueer, woman, man, or some other identity, which may or may not correspond with the sex and gender one is assigned at birth.

LEATHER COMMUNITY

A community, which encompasses those who are into leather, sado-masochism, bondage and domination, uniform, cowboys, rubber, and other fetishes. Although the leather community is often associated with the queer community, it is not a “gay-only” community.

LESBIAN

A woman whose primary sexual and affectional orientation is toward people of the same gender.

LGBTQ

Abbreviation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer.  An umbrella term that is used to refer to the community as a whole.  LGBTQIA includes the Intersex and Asexual communities.

LIBERALISM

A political theory founded on the natural goodness of humans and the autonomy of the individual and favouring civil and political liberties, government by law with the consent of the governed, and protection from arbitrary authority.

LOVE

A feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a partner, parent, child, or friend.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Try to help out who ever you can and make a difference in the world.

MONOGAMY

Having only one intimate partner at any one time.

NONMONOSEXUAL

People who are attracted to more than one gender.

OFFER SUPORT

If you someone who needs help, no matter what it is, try to offer them support and be there for one other.

POLYAMORY

Denotes consensually being in/open to multiple loving relationships at the same time. Some polyamorists (polyamorous people) consider “poly” to be a relationship orientation. Sometimes used as an umbrella term for all forms of ethical, consensual, and loving non-monogamy.

SEX

I don’t think we need to explain this 😉

TOLERANCE

The capacity for or the practice of recognizing and respecting the beliefs or practices of others.

TRANSGENDER

A person who doesn’t feel happy with the gender they were born with and changes it to the opposite gender.  Someone whose determination of their sex and/or gender is not universally considered valid; someone whose behavior or expression does not “match” their assigned sex according to society.

UNDERSTANDING

Try to understand each other, even though you have different believes and backgrounds.

UNICORN

A person who is willing to join an existing couple, often with the presumption that this person will date and become sexually involved with both members of that couple, and not demand anything or do anything which might cause problems or inconvenience to that couple.

UNIQUENESS

Stands for: Single, unique, incomparable, formidable, extraordinary, endless, enormous, famous, fantastic, colossal, powerful, gorgeous, huge, giant, sensational.

URSULA

Some lesbians, particularly butch types, also participate in Bear culture referring to themselves with the distinct label Ursula.

VIXEN

Totally amazing and gorgeous human being.

What is Milkshake festival?

Milkshake festival is a dance festival that has been created from the thought ‘nothing should be a must, anything is possible’. Milkshake festival shows that entertainment, taste in music, choice of clothing and status has nothing to do with sexuality. Life is just a party thanks to the great diversity of skin colors, religions, sexual preferences and male and female forms.

Milkshake wants to celebrate the city’s initiatives and is an impetus to bring courtesy and friendly manners back into society.

Thick, thin, small, large, gay, straight, trans, black or white: people are the salt of the earth and this is what we celebrate!

 

How old do I have to be to attend?

The minimum age requirement for entrance at the festival is 18 (eighteen) years of age, celebrated to the date that the visitor intends to attend the event.

Minors will not be allowed access to the event, even those accompanied by a parent or guardian or those who are legally emancipated.

Important: As proof of age, an official ID with a photograph issued by the Brazilian Government will be required at the entrance (ID, passport or original driver’s license) or, in the case of foreigners, a valid passport.

 

What time do the doors open and close?

The doors open at 4pm, June, 16th and close at 6am, June, 17th. The official after party will take place at the same venue from 06am to 11:30am.

Who can buy half-price tickets?

Half-price admissions will be applied for Brazilian citizens in accordance with the legal provisions in force at the time we make tickets available for purchase, granting benefits to the following categories:

Students: Pursuant to Law 12.933/2013 and Decree 8.537/2015, Brazilian students who bear the Student Identification Card (CIE);

Elderly: Pursuant to Federal Law Number 10.741/2003 (Statute of the Elderly), people aged 60 (sixty) and over that can prove such condition by means of an official photo ID;

People with Disabilities: as determined under Law Number 12.933/13, who prove this condition by means of an official document with a photo accompanied by the Card of Continued Benefit of the Social Assistance of the person with disability or of the document issued by the National Institute of Social Security (“INSS”), which certifies the retirement pursuant to Complementary Law 142/2013. Accompanying persons will also be entitled to the half-entry, upon presentation of a declaration of need of companion, by the person with a disability or by the companion at the entrance of the festival;

Professionals from schools of the state and municipal public education networks in the state of São Paulo: in accordance with State Law Number 15.298/14, directors, educational coordinators, supervisors and others who hold job positions in the state and municipal public school network who present an official photo ID, as well as a professional ID card or pay stub.

Low-income young people between 15 and 29 years old: according to Law 12.933/2013 and Decree 8.537/2015. Low-income people aged 15 to 29, registered in the CADUNICO who have a family income of up to 2 (two) minimum wages and present the Youth Identity accompanied by an official document with a photo.

Pursuant to Law 12.933 /13, a document conference for the right to half-entry may be required at the time of purchase and access to the festival.

Should participants fail to present the necessary documents that attest to their half-price ticket benefit, they will be required to pay the complementary value associated to the specific ticket lot that was purchased to enter the festival, as per the procedure that will be duly informed upon access to the event by the festival staff.

Should participants fail to present a document that attests to their half-price ticket benefit or fail to pay the complementary value, access to the event will be denied.
